Young social innovators join the ChangemakerXchange community through our programmes, typically regional and focused on pressing global themes. The cohorts guide participants on a journey designed to connect them with peers in the field, supporting both the individual and their impact work

Each programme is unique, yet they all share the same core essence and many of the below elements, which may vary slightly per theme or region.

Participants receive customised support based on their specific needs. This involves matching, coaching and training led by experts and impact leaders.

Selected participants attend a five-day summit, usually held in a nature-based location within their region. The agenda focuses on forging human connection, peer learning and collaboration.

We often provide seed funding to support cross-border collaborations. We use a participatory budgeting approach where the community reviews proposals and decides collectively which joint initiatives receive investment.

The programme connects participants to a wider sector of partners, experts and global gatherings to support the visibility of their work.

After taking part in a summit or programme, changemakers are invited to join our community, where they remain connected through ongoing, lifelong engagement. The community offers continued opportunities for learning, collaboration, and support as they deepen and sustain their work.

Hiba is strengthening communities through Sawaed19, a digital platform that makes volunteering more accessible, meaningful, and impactful. She is using technology to connect people with opportunities to contribute, collaborate, and drive positive social change.

Christian is mobilising communities through Chilli, an AI-powered app that turns daily habits into tangible action. He is helping people address pressing local and global challenges through collective, everyday change.

Jose represents the State of Amazonas, where he works to empower Indigenous youth to protect biodiversity hotspots and lead climate action within their communities.

Suzanne is creating economic opportunities for refugee families through The Picha Project, a food delivery and catering platform that brings their home-cooked meals to wider audiences. She is helping families earn sustainable incomes while sharing their cultures through food.

Lauren is equipping youth, BIPOC communities, and newcomers with the skills and support needed to build successful careers in the green economy. Through Green Career Centre, she is helping make climate-focused work more accessible and inclusive.

Charles is transforming agricultural waste into sustainable textile alternatives that reduce reliance on plastic-based synthetics. Through Rethread Africa, he is creating circular materials that support both environmental sustainability and local livelihoods.

Venancio is strengthening Indigenous leadership through Impacto Indígena by creating opportunities for Indigenous communities to shape and lead social impact initiatives. He is helping shift perceptions from seeing Indigenous peoples as beneficiaries to recognising them as essential partners in creating lasting change.

Marie is advancing rrreefs’ mission to regenerate degraded coral reefs at a global scale. She is working to restore rich marine biodiversity and build healthier oceans for future generations.

Manal is strengthening youth participation in climate action through the UNCCD Youth Caucus. She is advancing youth engagement in public policy and decision-making to help shape more inclusive climate solutions.

Gabriel is empowering young people across Southeast Asia through Bamboo Builders by equipping them with the skills and confidence to lead social change through entrepreneurship. He is helping turn ideas into lasting ventures and enabling young changemakers to create impact in their communities.

Alain is protecting biodiversity through the Gorilla Ambassadors Programme by equipping young people in and around Virunga National Park to become leaders in conservation. He is inspiring community action to safeguard one of the world’s most important ecosystems for future generations.
Alain Mukiranya

Grace is advancing Indigenous self-determination through Anishinaabe Inc by supporting young leaders and artists to develop sustainable, land-based initiatives. She is creating economic opportunities while strengthening Indigenous communities’ connections to culture, land, and the environment.
