The Solar Bright Future-green skills project empowered over 150 displaced youths (50% female, 50% male) aged 18-35 in crisis-affected Northwest Cameroon through a 3-month hands-on solar energy training, electrifying 10 off-grid rural maternities in Mezam, enhancing healthcare for 3,000+ women and children, while addressing energy poverty, climate change, and youth unemployment; this initiative won the 2023 ILO-Islamic Development Bank Youth Green Skills Accelerator Award, the Youth4Climate Award by UNDP and the Italian government, and the 4th prize in the Schneider Foundation’s Youth Innovation for a Sustainable Future in the Middle East Africa region, contributing to greener reconstruction of crisis-affected communities.
